'Uri: The Surgical Strike' maintains box office dominance in spite of multiple new releases, crosses Rs 180 crore mark

Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2019. But with the release of multiple films like 'Manikarnika', 'Thackeray' and 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga', the film's collections were expected to down eventually. However, that did not happen.

Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2019. The slick action film has been wreaking havoc at the box office since its release. But with the release of multiple films like 'Manikarnika', 'Thackeray' and 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga', it was expected to down eventually. But such is the 'josh' that it is still dominating the box office in spite of being on its fourth week of release.

The Aditya Dhar director has earned Rs 180.82 crore as of Saturday and it is clear that it will breeze past Rs 200 crore. But that is not the incredible part. The most astonishing fact of all is that it earned a whopping Rs 6.35 crore on Saturday, whereas Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika, which just came out, earned only Rs 5.25 crore. The latest release Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga was nowhere in the picture as it only minted Rs 4.65 crore on its second day.

Even though 'Manikarnika' is expected to cross Rs 75 crore mark on Sunday, it is clear that the war film based on the Indian Army's surgical strike in PoK is still the dominating film at the ticket window. Meanwhile, the film's lead man Vicky Kaushal thanked everyone who turned the dialogue "How's the josh?" into a national mantra as he termed it as an emotion.
