Varun Dhawan on Tanushree Dutta Controversy: We Have To Try To Keep Our Industry Safe

Bollywood star Varun Dhawan extended his support to actress Tanushree Dutta for her courage to speak up against harassment.

Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta who recently opened up about the unjust that happened to her during the shooting of 'Horn Ok Pleassss', accused actor Nana Patekar of misconduct on the sets of the film. The actress, who was last seen on the big screens in 2010, accused the 'Welcome' star of misbehaving with her during the shooting of a special song for the film. The news created a huge stir in the industry and several Bollywood stars spoke up in favour of the actress. Celebs like Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Twinkle Khanna, Simi Garewal, Lisa Ray, Parineeti Chopra have extended their support to the 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' star.

Joining the bandwagon is Varun Dhawan, who also extended his support to the actress for her courage to speak up about harassment. Addressing a press conference following the release of his latest venture 'Sui Dhaaga: Made In India', the actor said that he is not aware of everything that is being heard or said as he was busy with the promotional duties of the film. But he stated that he believes that respect is a must in the workplace for everyone, no matter its a man, woman or children. He said that we have to try to keep our industry safe for all genders. Every person should be given an equal respect. The 'Badlapur' star further stated that if a person is talking about the incident openly, he thinks that people should hear that person out. The actor concluded his statement saying that it takes great courage to talk like that so he applauds that courage.

On the other hand, Nana Patekar, who is currently in Rajasthan shooting for 'Housefull 4', filed a legal notice against Tanushree Dutta. The actress has released a statement in response to the same. Read her full statement here.
