When two actors who are equally great dancers and actors come together in an action drama like War, the film is sure to be a hit. According to reports, War, which was released on October 2, has made a grand opening of ₹ 53 crores at the box office. Movie reviews of War say that the two action heroes have already set screens on fire. Although Hrithik Roshan has set new bars for himself after Dhoom 2, Tiger Shroff’s performance in War has been appreciated and criticized equally.
Hrithik Roshan plays Kabir, the Intelligence Bureau’s starfield agent who has gone rogue and is killing Indian officers. The responsibility to take Kabir out of this rage is reluctantly tasked on Khalid, who is played by Tiger Shroff in the film. Khalid is Kabir’s protégé and he worships him. However, Khalid is quite duty-bound. So he promises his authorities that when the time comes, he will not fling from pulling the trigger against Kabir. Tiger Shroff is praised for his great on-screen action chemistry with Hrithik Roshan. Tweets read,
#War is an action BONANZA! You have NEVER seen such action from an Indian film! @iHrithik is a GOD and @iTIGERSHROFF delivers his GREATEST act! Siddharth Anand mounts the film on a scale that’s truly a visual delight! @Vaaniofficial is stunning! Congrats @yrf on a BLOCKBUSTER— Milap (@zmilap) October 1, 2019
Congratulations @iHrithik @iTIGERSHROFF setting the box office on fireee. Still cant get over that @iHrithik just played a math teacher and now is seducing us all on screen. Congratulations on setting new records— Varun Dhawan (@Varun_dvn) October 3, 2019
However, the problem with the film, according to reviews, is that it is barely held together in terms of script. There is little in the writing that feels fresh. The concept is more focused on high-octane action and gorgeous wide landscapes, from Malta and Marrakech to Portugal and Sydney, which makes the film a costly affair. Apart from two bonafide, ridiculously good-looking actors fighting it big on screen, everything else is secondary in War.
The songs in War movie are quite up to the notch. Ghungroo is said to be 'the party number of the year' by Hrithik Roshan fans. Hrithik Roshan and Vaani Kapoor are seen traipsing on an island, often breaking into dance in between. According to reports, the song is shot on the Amalfi coast in Italy, which is considered to be one of the most expensive destinations in the world. Hrithik and Tiger are pitted against each other in the Holi song Jai Jai Shivshankar. The two are seen matching dance steps amid a riot of colours.
