The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have narrowed down their list of contestants for 91st Oscars and announced the list of semi-finalists in nine separate categories on Tuesday, December 18. The organization took to Twitter and released the final list which includes Guneet Monga's film 'Period. End of Sentence' that highlights Indian women's fights against the deeply rooted stigma of menstruation.

The 26-minute film directed by award-winning Iranian-American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi narrates the experience of a group of girls and women from a small village in northern India who combats social stigma to install a pad machine in their village. The film has been selected for the Documentary Short Subject category.
