It’s almost impossible that any of your near and dear ones didn’t watch ‘Avengers: Endgame’, that’s how high the buzz for the superhero film has been. As a result, records are tumbling too as the action movie has done unprecedented business in India. After taking the highest start ever in the country as per figures from the trade circles in Bollywood, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ continued its run on the second day too, earning over Rs 50 crore again to take the two-day collections over Rs 100 crore, something 'Baahubali 2' had done in three days.
After breaking the record of ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ (Rs 52.25 crore) for the highest opening day collections in India, by raking in Rs 53.10 crore, the Russo Brothers directorial earned Rs 51.40 crore on Saturday. The total now stands at Rs 104.50 crore, and that’s something no Indian film has achieved before in the country.
According to Taran Adarsh, who tweeted the figures, the massive figures also busted the theory that the maximum number of screens in which movies release brought bigger moolah. The trade analyst pointed out that ‘Avengers’ released in only 2845 theatres, but it still outperformed Bollywood biggies that release in over 4000 theatres, by a big margin.
Adarsh also pointed to an interesting analysis over the release date of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. After ‘Baahubali: the Conclusion’, the highest earning film in India at close to Rs 500 crore for only the Hindi version, in 2017 and the previous installment, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, that earned over Rs 200 crore in India last year, again the last weekend of April has brought historic collections.
It’s a given that ‘Avengers: Endgame’ will cross Rs 150 crore in the opening weekend, something that’s historic, but how it will perform from there on will determine its lifetime business.
All over the world, the movie is reported to have collected approximately 305 million USD (Rs 2095 crore) on the opening day.
