Hollywood veteran actress Charlotte Rae died at the age of 92. Known for her role as a house mother Mrs. Garrett in 'The Facts of Life', Charlotte breathed her last at her Los Angeles residence on Sunday with her family by her side. The cause of her death was not immediately revealed. However, as per media reports, the actress was diagnosed with bone cancer last year after she managed to recover pancreatic cancer. As per media reports, her publicist, Harlan Boll gave out the official statement on her death. 

During the span of her six-decades long acting career, the actress has encompassed many TV roles as well as stage and film appearances. The actress, who was known to be a comedian, singer and dancer, touched the height of stardom with her role in the sitcoms 'Diff'rent Strokes' and its spin-off, 'The Facts of Life'. She was nominated for Tony Award twice, once for “Pickwick” in 1966 and in 1969 for “Morning, Noon and Night.”

The actress also featured as Woody Allen's mother in 1971 'Bananas' and featured as his wife on the classic sitcom 'Car 54, Where Are You?' Combating all health issues Ray managed to come up to the silver screen in as a guest starred in TV shows including 'Pretty Little Liars', 'Sisters', and 'The King of Queens'. Her Film credits include 'Don't Mess with the Zohan' and 'Tom and Jerry'. In fact, as per media reports, Sony Picture TV is currently working on reboot of 'The Facts of Life'.

Her last feature film was 'Ricki and the Flash' with Meryl Streep in 2015. That same year she released her autobiography “The Facts of My Life,” co-written by her son Larry Strauss.

Several eminent celebrities including Tony Award-winning actress Audra McDonald and Todd Bridges, have extended condolence on the death of the veteran actress.
