'Farscape' inspired 'Guardians of the Galaxy', says James Gunn

Filmmaker James Gunn says his "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise is inspired by 1999's popular sci-fi series "Farscape". The director, who has helmed the first two parts of the Marvel Studios franchise and will soon start working on the third film, made the revelation while answering a fan question about the influence of 'Farscape' on his movies.

The director had previously revealed he plans to ''wrap up'' the stories that started with 2014's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' with the next installment of the franchise. The franchise stars Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot) and Bradley Cooper (Rocket).
