Harvey Weinstein Accuser Asia Argento, Herself Was Accused By Another Actor For Sexual Misconduct

Hollywood actress Asia Argento was reportedly accused by Jimmy Bennett of sexual assault

The Me Too campaign which was a protest against sexual assault had gained momentum following sexual misconduct allegations against Hollywood actor Harvey Weinstein. The campaign had quickly garnered global attention, launching itself as a movement. Hollywood actress Asia Argento was one of the  first woman to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. Now, as per reports, Asia Argento had paid a young actor to make settlements after he accused her of sexual misconduct.

The actress had reportedly made a deal of USD 380,000 with the actor so that he does not disclose the matter in public. The actor, Jimmy Bennett of ‘Star Trek’ fame had claimed that in 2013, the ‘XXX’ actress had assaulted him. At that point, he was only 17, and the actress was 37-years-old. They were reportedly in a hotel in California hotel back then. As per the laws of consensual sex in California, a person needs to be 18 years of age.

The documents of settlements were exchanged between Argento and Bennett's respective lawyers. Reportedly, the documents also included a picture dated May 9, 2013, where the two are seen together on the bed. As per the settlement made between the two, Bennett required to return the above mentioned photograph and its copyright to Argento ’s lawyer, Carrie Goldberg. The lawyer had also written a letter to the actor with regard to the payment of the settlement money and described the same as "helping Mr Bennett".

During the Cannes Film festival closing ceremony this year, Argento accused Weinstein of raping her when she was all of 21. This encouraged other women who had been sexually assaulted by Weinstein to speak up against him. Uo until now, over 60 people have reportedly accused Harvey Weinstein of a range of misconduct, from harassment to rape. This incident also gave rise to the Me Too campaign. More and More women started to use the term and said that they too had been sexually assaulted at some point or the other. 

However, the 'Land of the Dead' actress strongly denied of the reports and the claims made. She stated that she never had a sexual relationship with Jimmy Bennett.
