Maybe it was destiny for a movie with a pile of poop as a central character. 'The Emoji Movie' has received Hollywood's one of the most famous award, the Razzie Award, for worst picture of 2017. This movie has also become the worst animated movie in the last 38 years to earn this award. This emoji based drama is topping the list of worst movies in 2018. An official statement by the Razzies states that the Hollywood film could not grab public attention and the script of the movie lacks originality.

The announcements for the annual worst movies were made on Saturday which is just the day before the Academy Awards. 'The Emoji Movie' bagged four out of the 10 Razzies given out in 2018. The movie bagged awards in the category of the worst screenplay, worst director, and worst screen combo, which was given to any of the two emojis form the movie.

Tom Cruise's reboot version of the 'Mummy' made him win the worst actor. The 'Mission Impossible actor did not bag an Academy award but is now a winner of two Razzies. The last time Cruise won this award was in 1994 for his movie, 'Interview with the Vampire'. He won the award for the worst screen couple along with Brad Pitt.

Tyler Perry took the award for the worst actress for 'Boo 2! A Madea Halloween'. Kim Basinger took the worst supporting actress award for 'Fifty Shades Darker,'. With this, she joined the special company of Faye Dunaway, Liza Minnelli, and Halle Berry as actresses who have won both a Razzie and an Oscar.

Mel Gibson, who last year won the 'Redeemer' award for getting an Oscar nomination just a few years after getting a Razzie nomination, is back at the bottom again at the Razzies. He took the award for the worst supporting actor for 'Daddy's Home 2'.

'Baywatch' won the inaugural "Special Rotten Tomatoes Award". The award is the result of an online poll held in conjunction with the review site Rotten Tomatoes. The rest of the Razzie Awards are determined by votes of over 1,000 Razzie members, 27 countries and voting is done from every U.S. state except Montana.
