It's confirmed! Johnny Depp no longer to play Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' reboot

Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp will not reprise his role as the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean' instalments.

Bad news for the Johnny Depp fans, the Hollywood superstar will not reprise his role as the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean' instalments. As per reports of The Hollywood Reporter, Depp has been officially dropped from the reboot of the film.

According to ANI, the development was confirmed by Disney's film chief Sean Bailey. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bailey said, "We want to bring in a new energy and vitality. I love the [Pirates] movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that's what I've tasked them with."

Moreover, 'Deadpool' screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, have been roped to script the upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film. As per media reports, Disney has met with the writers behind to discuss a reboot of the much-celebrated film series.  

The original scriptwriter of the franchise, Stuart Beattie, is the first to publicly confirm that Depp has been dropped out from the film's franchise. He revealed that Disney Studios is planning to ditch the star as they are thinking of reworking the entire franchise.

Johnny Depp has been playing the protagonist Jack Sparrow in the film series for the last 15 years and the five films in the franchise that released during the time grossed a total of 4.5 billion US Dollars. The first 'Pirates' film, 'The Curse of the Black Pearl', hit the big screens in 2003, the most recent movie in the franchise, 'Dead Men Tell No Tales', was released in 2015.

Meanwhile, the 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' actor has been engrossed in personal turmoils over the past four years, which critics claimed to have reflected in his latest appearance as Jack Sparrow in 2017 film 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' which failed to perform well in the theatres and became the lowest performing movie in the film series.
