'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn who was off the social media for quite a long time now following the controversy over his past tweets, has finally made a comeback on the microblogging site on Friday. The director officially resurfaced on Twitter on March 15 after Disney rehired him for 'Guardians 3' by posting a thank-you note.

The filmmaker returned to social media with an 'extended' trailer of his upcoming directorial 'Brightburn'. Gunn shared the 3.11 minute-long video on Twitter and captioned it saying, "And here's an extended version of the trailer!"

He also shared a brand new poster of the film and captioned it saying, "Our hearts and hands are busted making this movie for you guys. Join us in watching it on Friday, May 24, in theatres everywhere."

'Brightburn' is a superhero sci-fi story with a twist that offers a subversive take on the genre and is slated to be released on May 24. The concept of the story is essentially Superman’s origin story but with a shocking, dark twist. Exploring the possibilities of what a boy of the alien race adopted by a human family could have been turned out into, Gunn portrays a dark and gloomy spin-off.

As per Entertainment Weekly, the official synopsis of the film read, “What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With 'Brightburn', the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.”

James Gunn teased the making of this 'secret movie' long back as he was scheduled to reveal about the same at San Diego Comic-Con. However, things got delayed because of the whole Disney controversy involving him and finally, he introduced his fans to his first 'Superhero horror' venture this weekend at Brazil’s Comic-Con. Gunn is producing the project while David Yarovesky serves as the director. The film features Elizabeth Banks, Meredith Hagner, and David Denman in the lead roles.
