Jennifer Lopez in a leading media portal’s roundtable conference talked about her experience of playing the role of a stripper in the movie Hustlers and choosing to do romantic comedies at the start of her career. Read on to know more about this roundtable conference and Jennifer Lopez’s response.

Jennifer Lopez talks about Hustlers and rom-coms

Jennifer Lopez in a recent roundtable conference for a leading media portal talked about playing the role of a stripper in her recently released film Hustlers. The roundtable conference also comprised other leading female actors who talked about their roles and experiences. Jennifer Lopez said that she was terrified of performing the opening number in the film Hustlers that introduced her character, Ramona Vega. She further revealed that the opening number which Jennifer performed to introduce her character was not part of the script.

Jennifer Lopez revealed that the script only mentioned that Ramona finishes a final flourish and then meets Destiny. But Jennifer said that she did not agree with it. She said that since Ramona is a big money-maker at the club she needs to show the people why. Jennifer Lopez told the makers of the film that we cannot just say it we have to do it. Jennifer Lopez told the team that she needs to dance on the pole and show them.

Jennifer Lopez also talked about making a conscious effort of choosing to do romantic comedies during the start of her career. JLo said that she talked about her decision to her agent. She revealed in the interview that as she is a Puerto Rican, Latina she wanted to be in romantic comedies because all the women in romantic comedies always looked the same since they were all white.

 Jennifer Lopez also said that she is a hopeless romantic and a single working woman. So she remembers thinking about these two things will making the choice of choosing romantic comedies. Jennifer Lopez has starred in her first romantic comedy alongside Matthew McConaughey in The Wedding Planner in 2001 and went on to do few more romantic comedies such as Maid in Manhattan, The Back-up Plan, Monster-in-Law and more.
