Two of the scenes have been deemed to be violent. The first is when the Joker shoots his colleague at point-blank range. The other is when chaos ensues amongst his supporters.

It needs to feel 'real'

He further added that in a lot of feature films people don't get affected when more than 40000 people are killed as they are numb to what is going on in the scene but everything that takes place in Joker in terms of violence, one can feel it.

From the time Joker premiered at the Venice Film Festival, a lot of film critics have wondered whether the film would promote violence in a way similar to that of the 1976 release Taxi Driver and a movie released in the year 1971 by the name of A Clockwork Orange.

In Joker, Joaquin Phoenix plays the character of Arthur Fleck, a lonely man with an unsuccessful career in comedy who lives with his sick mother. The movie shows how the character eventually became Batman's enemy.
