1. The Accused 

The Accused is a 1988 legal drama directed by Jonathan Kaplan and it marked Jodie Foster's breakthrough adult role. Foster played the role of young waitress Sarah Tobias, who is gang-raped by three men at a local bar. She and deputy district attorney Kathryn Murphy set out to prosecute the rapists as well as the men who encouraged them. The film was critically acclaimed, especially for Foster's performance, which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress

2. The Silence of the Lambs

The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 American psychological thriller film, directed by Jonathan Demme. It is adapted from Thomas Harris's 1988 novel of the same name. The film stars Anthony Hopkins as  Dr Hannibal Lecter, a  brilliant psychiatrist and a cannibalistic serial killer, and Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling, a young FBI trainee, who seeks Hannibal's advice in nabbing another serial killer. The film is regularly cited by critics, audiences, and film directors as one of the greatest and most influential movies of all time. Jodie Foster won her second Academy Award for Best Actress, and the film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director

3. Nell

Nell is a 1994 American drama film directed by Michael Apted from a screenplay written by William Nicholson. Jodie Foster features in the title role and she also produced the film. The film follows a young woman who has to face other people for the first time after being raised by her mother in an isolated cabin. The film received mixed reviews but was a box-office success. Jodi Foster was widely acclaimed for her performance and she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress
