The body of Mexican singer, musician and occasional actor Jose Jose who passed away recently on September 28 is reported missing since September 29. The superstar whose original name is Jose Romulo Sosa Ortiz was a singer of Latin love songs and was better known by his stage name, Jose Jose, died at the age 71 outside Miami, according to the Mexican government. Fans across Mexico and other parts of the globe were grief-stricken by his loss when there was a telenovela-like turn with his body missing. Jose Jose's two oldest children, Jose Joel and Marysol, accused their younger half-sister and her mother of hiding his body.
When the aforementioned children of Jose who were born to the star's second wife came to the funeral on Sunday, they were informed that their father's body was missing. It was the third wife of Jose, Sara Salazar, and her daughter Sarita who refused to tell them where it is or what the funeral plans are. Following this, the elder children and their mother went to the police station at Cutler Bay, Florida, to file a report of the missing body. They also called for an autopsy, urged the Mexican government to intervene and suggested that Sarita was acting "as if it were part of a contract" to sell exclusive media rights to their father's funeral.
"If I don't see my dad's body I can't believe anything. Nothing," Marysol told journalists outside the station. "To be clear: We aren't fighting for his money or his inheritance, we aren't interested in that," said Joel.
Speaking to a Spanish TV Network, Sarita, the daughter to Jose's third wife said that it is very early to decide what will be done with the remains. The confusion around her father's body is a result of US' strict laws she blamed. She added that even her mother has not seen the body. In the end, she promised the Mexicans to bring her father to them.
The netizens have flocked social media with memes on Sarita post her interview. They have compared the superstar's daughter with the most iconic villains of Mexico's melodramatic telenovela soap operas. Things turned even more dramatic when in Claveria, the singer's native barrio, fans gathered around a statue of him and chanted: "We want them to give us back Jose Jose!. He was a great man, for his voice but above all for his sensitivity... He was a great man of the people". If his body manages to arrive in Mexico, the authorities have planned a mass karaoke tribute for him Friday outside the Palace of Fine Arts.
