Leonardo Di Caprio turns 45 today on November 11. Apart from being an Academy award-winning actor, he is also an environmentalist. He preaches sustainable living and being aware of climate change. In order to celebrate his 45th birthday here is a list of Oscar-nominated roles in movies that you need to add to your watch list.

1. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape

Leonardo Di Caprio received his first Oscar nomination for his supporting role as Arnie Grape in the film What’s eating Gilbert Grape. Leonardo managed to steal the spotlight in this film with class apart performance as a mentally underdeveloped teenager. Caprio was successful in essaying the role of Arnie and portraying his challenges whether it was constant bullying or losing his mother.

2. The Aviator

Leonardo Di Caprio’s second Oscar nomination came for portraying the role of Howard Hughes in Martin Scorsese’s film The Aviator. Leonardo –Scorsese combination worked for this film as it received multiple Academy Award nominations. Leonardo Di Caprio was nominated for Best Actor has he successfully managed to nail this biographical role of Hughes who apart from being a celebrated film producer, aviation magnate was also suffering from Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
