The Comic-Con 2019 panel brought with it some good news when Marvel Studios announced their upcoming feature 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' which will witness the first superhero of Asian descent.

This decision to expand the Marvel universe to the orient was lauded by the Asian marvel fans who had been devoid of an Asian representative. The movie will have Chinese-Canadian actor Simu Liu essaying the role of Shang-Chi, while Tony Leung will be playing the Mandarin. American actor Awkwafina will also be seen in the movie in an important role.

Chinese-Canadian actor Simu Liu also took to Twitter to express gratitude towards Marvel Studios for inducting him into the Marvel universe. The playful post read,

Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing the film while Screenwriter Dave Callaham will be the man behind shaping the script. Talking about the film at the panel, Cretton said growing up among Japanese, Chinese, Caucasian, Filipino, Portuguese, Korean friends, he was excited to see Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and his team to create a Marvel Comic Universe which reflected the different and races and cultures he was surrounded by from an early age.

The creation of the Asian superhero is credited to Jim Starlin and Steve Englehart for Marvel Comics in 1973, where the duo introduced him as a Chinese-born kung fu master rebelling against his father, the infamous villain Fu Manchu, and turning to heroism.
