Will Smith's latest drama-thriller release 'Gemini Man' managed to collect just USD 1.6 million at the domestic box office a day after its release. According to the international media reports, the film premiered at around 3000 locations on its opening day. The movie is heavily reliant on 3D graphics, animation, and VFX. In the movie, Henry Brogan (Smith) is an elite assassin who becomes the target of a mysterious operative who can seemingly predict his every move.

The movie is helmed by Ang Lee 

To his horror, he soon learns that the man who's trying to kill him is a younger, faster, cloned version of himself. The movie is helmed by Ang Lee and the action-thriller is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Prior to this movie, Smith starred in Disney's live-action film 'Aladdin' which became his first biggest hit to cross USD 1 billion. He played the role of Genie in the film which opened in theatres on May 24.

The actor's upcoming credits incorporate leading the Netflix crime biopic 'The Council', which he would likewise produce. In the series, Smith will play Nicky Barnes, who partnered with Italian mafia to start his own business in the heroin trade. He was arrested in 1978 and became a federal informant under the witness protection program. Though he died in 2012 and his death was reported in 2019.

Gemini Man was originally conceived in 1997

Gemini Man was originally conceived in 1997. Several directors including, Tony Scott, Curtis Hanson, and Joe Carnahan were all attached at some point and numerous actors including Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Sean Connery were rumoured to star as the protagonist. Gemini Man premiered at the Zurich Film Festival on October 1, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States by Paramount Pictures on October 11, 2019, in standard 2D as well as HFR (high frame rate) IMAX 3D+ on select screens. It received negative reviews from critics who complimented the visual effects and performances but criticized the script and plot.
