Oscar-nominated actor Willem Dafoe recently joined filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley. According to reports, the filmmaker has already cast many other famous Hollywood stars in his upcoming film. The film follows a 1946 based novel, titled by the same name by author William Lindsay Gresham.

A story of con artists

Nightmare Alley will be directed by the famous del Toro from a script he and Kim Morgan wrote together. The plot of the story shows the character Carlisle played by Cooper, who's an ambitious young con-man working with a female psychiatrist played by Cate Blanchett, who is even more corrupt and clever than him.

Out-manipulating the manipulator

Initially, according to the novel, both partners enjoy the success fooling and fleecing people with their incredible mentalist plans, but later the female psychiatrist turns the story around, by playing on her own partner in crime, out-manipulating the manipulator. Dafoe will play the head barker at a travelling carnival who offers Bradley Cooper's Carlisle a job, ushering him into a world of show biz and grifting. Apart from the main leads, the film’s cast also includes actors such as Rooney Mara, Toni Collette and David Strathairn.
