Zooey Deschanel announces separation from husband Jacob Pechenik

Actress Zooey Deschanel has announced her separation from husband Director Jacob Pechenik after 4 years of marriage; the couple have 2 children, Elsie & Charlie

After four years of marriage, actor Zooey Deschanel has announced that she has separated from husband Jacob Pechenik on September 7. The two would continue to remain "friends, business partners, and co-parents" to their two children said the couple's representative in a media statement. Zooey Deschanel and Jacob Pechenik are parents to Elsie Otter (daughter) and Charlie Wolf (son). The couple got married after in June 2015 after getting engaged in January the same year.

"After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners. We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time," they said to the media.

The couple's parental ties

The couple welcomed their first child at the same time of their marriage in July 2015. After two years, Zooey gave birth to Charlie. Deschanel had always played a caring mom and drifted away from the spotlight in 2018 to focus on her family. She once opened up about her life as a mom to a US media, noting that she has never shown her kids any of her work and that she and Pechenik “don’t do the TV thing” with them.

Although the two have decided to separate, they don't wish to miss out on their kids, as per their statement.

The romance they shared

Deschanel and Pechenik met on sets of the Bill Murray comedy "Rock the Kasbah". While Zooey is best known for show "New Girl" and film "500 Days of Summer of Days", Jacob is a film producer from Texas. The actress was previously married to Death Cab for Cutie lead singer Ben Gibbard from 2009 to 2012.

The couple reportedly shared a quite romantic relationship post their first meeting. Two weeks after their first meeting, they were seen accompanying each other at the Emmy Awards. A photo of the couple lip-locking after a brunch date also went viral on social media. The couple was last seen together in James Beard Awards 2019.
