Sanjay Dutt’s Prasthanam hit the theatres on September 20, 2019. Prassthanam is a Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name. Both the films have been directed by Dev Katta. Despite the original film being really popular, the remake had a slow start at the Box Office opening with only ₹3.07 crores.

Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff reunited

Prasthanam is a political drama produced by Maanyata Dutt. The film’s plot revolves around a dynasty party which is headed by Sanjay Dutt who must choose a successor for the party. He is met with many obstacles and opposition when he leans towards his step-son more than his own. Apart from Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff, the movie also stars Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur, Satyajit Dubey and Manisha Koirala in the lead roles. Ali Fazal plays the step-son while Satyajit Dubey plays the son who keeps craving for the throne he may never get.

Even though the film failed to grab the attention of the audience, what excited fans the most was the collaboration of Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff. The duo’s collaboration has been a popular combination in the past and fans were excited to witness it again.  The reunion came after 19 years when the duo last worked together for Mission Kashmir. When Jackie Shroff was questioned about his admiration for his co-stars, he quickly replied, “We love each other intensely but don’t need to say it aloud. Ishq ka zyada izhaar karo toh kharaab ho jaata hai''.

Previous films of the duo

Previous famous films the duo has worked together include Kartoos, Jeene Do, Khalnayak, Jung, Hum Bhi Insaan hai and many more. The first film they ever worked together on was Hum Bhi Insaan Hai in 1989. Their roles were usually always opposite where one played the protagonist and the other played the antagonist. Even Prassthanam also follows the same trend.
