Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is an English singer-composer. She started her singing career in 2007, with XL Recordings. Her debut album, 19 which have 12 tracks, released in 2008 was a commercial hit and critically acclaimed. The album has her first song, Hometown Glory, that she wrote when she was 16. At the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009, Adele bagged the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Adele released her second studio album with eleven songs, 21, in the year 2011. The album was well-received by the audience and the critics. It surpassed the success of her debut by winning various awards in 2012, among them, a record-tying six Grammy Awards. The best selling album in the US continued the top position longer than any album since 1985. The success of 21 made Adele get numerous mentions in the Guinness Book of World Records. 21 is reportedly the longest-running number-one album by a female solo artist in the UK and US Album Charts.

Adele's song Skyfall released in 2012 and won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, as well as the Brit Award for British Single of the Year. She co-wrote and recorded the song for the film James Bond. After taking a three-year break, in 2015, Adele again delivered the year's best selling album titled, 25 consisting of eleven songs. The third album earned her five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and four Brit Awards, including British Album of the Year.

Adele is reportedly working on her fourth studio album since the year 2018, with an expected release date. On 5 May 2019, the date of her 31st birthday, Adele posted several black-and-white photographs of herself celebrating her birthday along with a cryptic message on her Instagram account. The message ended with, "30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you". Many outlets took the post as a hint that a new album would be released soon.
