In his first tweet since the movement gained steam in October last year, the popular singer said he has never hurt or harassed anyone in any way to make them feel uncomfortable. He added that the persons who had accused him could reach out to him directly as he is ready to ‘face consequences’ for his actions.

Asserting his support for the #MeToo movement, Kartik said he is willing to apologise or face legal action if the allegations were true because he doesn’t want to leave a ‘sour taste’ in anyone’s life.

In the tweet, the singer, who is popular for his work across all the South industries and collboration with almost all of the major composers like AR Rahman and actors, also explained his absence from the microblogging website for the past few months.

Sharing the period was ‘trying’, Karthik also spoke about his father suffering from a life-threatening disease and his failure to commit to a reality show. The singer also conveyed his grief at the loss of the lives of the CRPF soldiers in the Pulwama terror attack and expressed solidarity with their families.

"There have been anonymous allegations and rumours being made against me on Twitter. True to my conscience, I have never hurt any human being or harassed anybody ignoring their consent. I want to put it out there that I have never intentionally acted in a way that would make anybody feel uncomfortable or unsafe. If anybody felt hurt because of any of my actions in the past, please reach out to me directly. I do believe in facing the consequences of one's actions. I fully support #MeToo and if there's truth in anybody's grievance, I shall be more than willing to apologise or face legal action because I don't want to ever leave a sour taste in anyone's life.
