Kodak Black to face almost four years of prison time for falsifying details?

Kodak Black has been sentenced to face 46 months of prison time for falsifying details on legal forms for buying firearms. Read below to know more details.

Kodak Black has been sentenced to serve 46 months in prison for federal weapon charges. The rapper reportedly tried to falsify information on legal forms to buy firearms multiple times. Kodak has faced up to 10 years of prison time but the prosecutors of Miami had asked for 46-57 months. Black's lawyers reportedly asked to give Black the minimum sentence as he pleaded guilty and has a history in charitable work.

Why is Kodak Black facing prison time?

The Florida rapper had become a nationwide sensation when his 2018 album Dying To Live opened at No.1 on billboards charts. Though Kodak is a celebrated rapper, he also has a lengthy record of criminal charges which was reportedly taken into consideration by the federal judge. The 22-year-old rapper had lied about his criminal history on federal forms while buying firearms. Prosecutors have also stated that one of the guns illegally bought by Kodak was also found at the Florida shooting scene.

Kodak also reportedly carried an illegal gun in the trunk of his Porsche car while crossing the Cana-United States border. Kodak Black was also found carrying eight grams of marijuana. Kodak was reportedly charged with criminal possession of firearms and unlawful possession of marijuana at the time.

As per some reports, Kodak also fell into trouble behind the bars while he was waiting for his judgement. The rapper fought with another inmate in the prison and injured a correctional officer, who tried to break up the fight. The correctional officer also reportedly required surgery as a result of the incident.

U.S District Court Judge Federico Moreno passed the judgement of Kodak Black's sentence. The judge reportedly told Kodak that young people do stupid things, but he had been doing it for a long time and his actions require correction. Before his sentence was handed down, Black reportedly took full responsibility for his actions and apologized for his behaviour.
