Selena Gomez recently made her music comeback with the track Single Soon. After its release, some fans started linking the song to her breakup with pop singer The Weeknd. However, in recent developments, the Only Murder In The Building star has cleared the air around the rumour.

Is Single Soon about The Weeknd? 

American media portal Hollywood Life recently shared a post about Selena’s song Single Soon. They mentioned in the caption that the fans believe it is in reference to her ex, The Weeknd. The Wolves singer took to the comments section to clear the misunderstanding. She replied to the assumptions by saying, “Couldn’t be more false.”

The speculation of The Weeknd being connected to Single Soon started when fans noticed the lyrics of the song. Selena talks about several ways of breaking up with her boyfriend in the song. “Should I do it on the phone? / Should I leave a little note / In the pocket of his coat? (Yeah) / Maybe I'll just disappear / I don't wanna see a tear / And the weekend's almost here,” the lyrics read. 

The weekend mention accompanies the visual of the singer writing the breakup note on a post-it which read, “I am sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me.” Fans believed that in the final two lines of the stanza, she is making a reference to The Idol star.
