Bigil Box office hits 300 crore mark, becomes the highest-grossing Tamil movie of the year

Kollywood superstar Vijay starrer Tamil film Bigil has made headlines after it crossed the Rs 300-crore mark recently. The movie is considered to be one of the finest films by the actor and has been doing great nationally as well as internationally. The audience has been loving the sports-based movie. It has been revealed that the movie is the highest-grossing film of the year in Tamil Nadu.

Box office update

Trade Analyst Sumit Kadel tweeted about the box office collection of the movie. He also wrote that this is the third consecutive blockbuster for actor Vijay. It has been reported that Bigil broke all records and surpassed Ajith’s Viswasam. According to trade sources, Viswasam’s lifetime box office collection was alleged to be ₹140 crores. Bigil, however, at the end of its fourth week grossed ₹141.05 crore.

It has been reported that Bigil is the second south Indian film to hit the Rs 200 crore grosser of the year mark, after Saaho. Vijay is the fouth south Indian actor to join actors like Rajinikanth, Prabhas, and Yash who have conquered the feat. According to a leading news portal, Bigil is the highest-grossing Tamil film in Kerala, after it hit the ₹ 19.65 crore mark after its fourth weekend in Kerala.

Bigil is a sports drama that revolves around strong emotional feelings such as heartbreaks and vengeance. The movie stars Vijay in a double role. He plays the role of a gangster as well as that of a women’s football coach. Apart from Vijay, the movie stars Nayanthara and Jackie Shroff. Bigil is directed and written by Atlee Kumar. It has been revealed that the movie was produced by AGS entertainment on the budget of ₹ 180 crore.
