A complaint against Bhanupriya and her brother has been filed in Andhra Pradesh’s Samalkota in East Godavari district.

A woman P Prabhavathi in her complaint has alleged that Bhanupriya took her daughter Sandhya to Tamil Nadu 18 months ago to work in their house and the remuneration of Rs 10,000 was agreed upon. However, the woman claims that the family didn’t pay the girl at all and instead roughed her up.

She also states that her daughter recently called her from an unknown number to say that she is being ‘physically and sexually abused.’ When the mother tried to meet Sandhya in Chennai, she said she was not allowed to do so.

The actress, meanwhile, during an interaction with reporters in Chennai called the case on her ‘false’ and shared that the girl,  who was 16 or 17 years old according to her, had been stealing items at their home including cash, jewellery and gadgets.

She added that while they returned the iPad, a camera and a watch, the mother had left on the pretext of bringing the cash and jewellery back. However, Bhanupriya next learnt about the case. She claimed that she was not aware of the girl’s age.

The woman, on the other hand, stated that the family refused to send Sandhya with them and asked them to pay them Rs 10 lakh and accused them of stealing jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh. She asserted that the CCTV camera footage of the house would be enough to know the ‘truth’ about the matter.

Bhanupriya, who is known for her work in Tamil, Telugu cinema and a few Hindi films, was seen in the successful bilingual movie 'Mahanati' starring Keerthy Suresh last year.
