Throughout the course of the entire run of Friends, there were two characters who were perhaps the closest to each other. The relationship between Phoebe, the eccentric one of the group, and Joey, the charming yet seemingly immature person in the group, some will say, has always been the most accurate portrayal of "best friends". It was not only the phenomenal acting of Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow that pulled this off but also their real-life chemistry and friendship. Here is how Joey and Phoebe define friendship goals for the rest of us all.

They always had time for each other

Joey and Phoebe were never separated for too long. When they had nothing to do, they would always be goofing off at Joey’s house. They also made time for each other even if they were busy. This is definitely a goal that friends should try and achieve, but it is rarely ever done.

They teach each other new skills

Joey once taught Phoebe how to act when she had to play the role of a nurse. In return, Phoebe taught Joey how to play the guitar and also tried teaching him French. We all need friends that can teach us new things. Someone who can improve our skillset while we do the same for them.

They always comforted each other

Whenever one of the two was heartbroken or in a melancholy mood, the other was always there to give them support. Joey was the first to comfort Phoebe when her love David moved away, even though she had previously ditched Joey to be with David instead. Phoebe felt so bad when her twin sister ditched Joey that she dressed up as her to let Joey down easy. She also brought him her friend’s dog when he was feeling down.

Joey acted as Phoebe’s officiator at her wedding

Perhaps the greatest moment that solidified Joey and Phoebe as the best of friends was when Joey acted as her officiator during her wedding. Phoebe asked him to give her away during her wedding. Usually, that is a role filled by the bride’s father or father figure. An emotional Joey accepted the position immediately. While, in the end, Joey only acted as her officiator and did not give her away, this whole ordeal still shows us all how close the two of them truly are.

These are only a few instances of the friendship between Joey and Phoebe. Even to this day, they are an example of friendship that can be followed by us all. No other sitcom friendships come close to the relationships that were portrayed on Friends. The show just recently celebrated its 25^th anniversary.
