Thousands of fans packed Sao Paulo's massive convention center on the first day of Brazil's Comic-Con Experience (CPXP) 2018 festival to check out the latest in comics, video games, toys, anime movies, and television.

The fifth edition of the event, which kicked off on Thursday (6 DEC. 2018), aims to give Brazilians a look at the main names and legends in the industry. Fans had the opportunity to meet artists and see first-hand trailers of upcoming movies and new comic books and participate in cosplay competitions.

The four-day event, one of the largest events of its kind in the world, featured an all-star lineup, with cast members from HBO's hit "Game of Thrones" among the highlights. Actress Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the award-winning fantasy series, said one of her earliest memories from the show was auditioning alongside actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark.

"From that moment, that no matter whether or not I was going to play Arya, I wanted that girl to play Sansa. And then, now to have this decade-long friendship, it's just the best, really."

Asked by co-creator David Benioff which character she would marry, Williams said her candidate would be Sansa.

"She is sexy, very sexy," Williams said drawing a laugh from the audience.

Game of Thrones will return for its much-awaited final season in April 2019, making it a bittersweet event, said co-creator D. B. Weiss.

"A part of you want to keep doing it forever but we knew if we kept doing forever it would stop being what it was," he said.

Outside the HBO stand shaped like a castle, dozens of fans stood in like to take a peek inside, many wearing customs from their favorite "Game of Thrones" characters.
Brazilian fan Daniela Nascimento, 24, dressed as the character "Daenerys Targaryen," felt "anxious" about the season finale too.

"I am anxious because I don't want that the characters I like die (in the series finale) but I think they will die. So I think I need to accept it so that it hurts less," she said.

Held since 2014, the CCXP is considered one of the largest Comic Con festivals in the world. Last year's edition drew 227,000 visitors, according to the Brazilian government.
"Game of Thrones" final season airs in 2019.
