Mohan Babu fumed over the Andhra Pradesh Government’s failure to refund the fees of students of his Sri Vidyaniketan Educational Institutions. The veteran actor and ex-Member of Parliament even accused the AP Government of blocking his protest rally by arriving at his residence, following which ‘house arrest’ stories started doing the rounds.
Mohan Babu tweeted about the police arriving at his house in Tirupati to stall his plan of a ‘peaceful rally.’ In another tweet, he fumed about the government not 'honouring its commitment' of payment to the tune of Rs 19 crore.
Actors Vishnu Manchu and Lakshmi Manchu also came out in support of their father, calling him ‘fearless’ for ‘always fighting for justice of the people’ and that he was a man one who couldn’t mess or be bully.
According to reports, there was no ‘house arrest’ as was being said, and the veteran, along with students of the institution, had taken out a rally on Friday. However, police intervened to stall it while another team of the force gathered at his residence too in Tirupati.
At the protest, Mohan Babu had said that 25 per cent of the students in his institution receives free education with the help of the government, but dues have been piling on for the last four-and-a-half years.
While speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the event, he slammed the government for non-payment of dues despite writing to CM N Chandrababu Naidu. He also revealed that paying salaries of the staff had also become difficult for them due to the current situation.
