It’s official! Vidya Balan is set to feature in Ajith-starrer Tamil remake of the unanimously lauded ‘Pink’ starring Amitabh Bachchan.

The news was confirmed by the producer of the movie, Boney Kapoor who told a tabloid that her role is not a guest appearance. He added that the director H Vinoth has tweaked the script, keeping in mind the Tamil audiences and that Vidya’s role has been incorporated accordingly into the script.

After ‘Urumi’ in Malayalam in 2010, upcoming NTR biopic ‘N.T.R: Kathanayakudu' in Telugu, the actress makes her debut into another film industry.

Buzz is Vidya agreed to do the role immediately on being offered the role due to her equation with Boney. It is not clear yet which role from the original she is doing or if it is a fresh character.

About the remake, the producer also stated that the collaboration with Ajith was after the latter suggested remaking the critically acclaimed movie to his late wife, legendary actress Sridevi, and she had given her nod.

Meanwhile, reports state that Malayalam actress Nazriya Nazim is set to step into Taapsee Pannu’s shoes for the remake.

The original also starred Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi, Piyush Mishra, among others. The film won the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues. It also fetched Amitabh Bachchan several honours at various award shows.
