Veteran Telegu actress Geethanjali passes away, fans mourn her demise

Veteran Telegu actress Geethanjali Ramakrishna passed away on October 31. Fans mourned the loss of the veteran actor as the news of her demise broke out.

Veteran south Indian actor Geethanjali Ramakrishna passes away in the wee hours. The actor reportedly suffered from a heart attack and she breathed her last breath in a private hospital near film Nagar in Hyderabad. She has acted in more than 500 films and has acted in the industry for about than six-decades. She has worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industry.

The late actor hailed from Kakinada, Andra Pradesh. Geethanjali was born as Mani. She made her silver screen debut with Seetharama Kalyanam in 1961. Geethanjali married fellow actor Ramakrishna while she was at the peak of her career. The couple had shared screen space before in several films. Geethanjali took a long break from her acting career post marriage but returned back to films just a few years later. Geethanjali's husband Ramakrishna passed away in 2001. She is survived by her son Adith Srinivas, who also tried his luck in acting in 2008.

Geethanjali is known for her roles in legendary movies like Illalu, Kaalam Marindi and Doctor Chakravarthy. Her last significant screen appearance was in the Telugu movie That is Mahalakshmi which also stars Tamannaah Bhatia. She was also a member of Nandi Award, which is the highest award for excellence in Telugu film fraternity. According to reports Geetanjali Ramakrishna's last rites will be performed in the evening.
