Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara welcomed their twin sons via surrogacy on September 26, 2022. On the occasion of the boys' first birthday this year, the director along with his wife Nayanthara and sons jetted off to Malaysia to celebrate the boys’ birthday. Meanwhile, the filmmaker also took to his Instagram account to pen a note for his sons alongside a string of unseen pictures. Check them out below.

Vignesh Shivan says he waited a long time to share pictures with his children
On September 26, Vignesh Shivan took to his Instagram to post unseen photos of his sons revealing their faces for the first time. In the series of pictures, the boys can be seen posing with their parents. Both Nayanthara and Shivan have so far refrained from showing their sons' faces. However, on the occasion of their first birthday, Shivan dedicated the lyrics of the Jailer song Rathamaarey to his sons as he pointed out that he waited for a long time to “post these lines and our pics together my lovely boys”.
The Podaa Podi director also expressed gratitude to Uyir and Ulag for coming into their life and filling it with positivity. He wrote, “Appa and Amma love U2 beyond what words could explain! Beyond anything and everything in this life ! Thank You 2 for coming into our lives and making it soo happy ! U have brought in all the positivity and blessings, this 1 full year has been filled with moments to cherish for a lifetime! Love you 2 ! You are our world & our blessed life ❤️”

Vignesh Shivan-Nayanthara pose with twins in front of Twin Towers
In another post shared by the director, the family can be seen posing in front of Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. The filmmaker used the juxtaposition to advise his sons to ‘stand tall’ and call them his ‘twin powers’. While the boys donned matching yellow outfits for their first birthday celebration, the Jawan actress and Shivan twinned in green t-shirts teamed with denim bottoms.
In the caption, he wrote, “My TwinPowers HBD to U2 ! 1 year of smiles, happiness and blessings! Happy birthday to my loving #Uyir & #Ulag ! May you both Stand Tall in this life bringing a lot of happiness to everyone around you ! Love you my babies! You have made our life soooooo sparkling & colourful! It’s a festival every day! With U2! My Uyir & my Ulag @nayanthara. Amma & Appa love you 2 ! Toooooo much (sic).” He noted that the couple wanted to celebrate their children’s birthday in front of the towers and thanked God for “making it happen”.
