Rajinikanth starrer Jailer makers directed by Delhi HC to not exhibit RCB jersey in movie

Delhi High Court issued directives to the producers of Jailer earlier today to remove the jersey of the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore from the film. The directives came after RCB moved the high court objecting to the unauthorised use of merchandise in the film.

Jailer makers used our jersey without permission: RCB

Earlier, IPL team, Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited moved the high court against Sun TV stating that one of the scenes in Jailer depicted a contract killer wearing RCB Jersey. In the same scene, the contract killer character is also saying derogatory things about women. 

RCB officially stated in their petition, “The RCB jersey was being used without permission in a negative depiction in the film, which is likely to dilute and disparage the RCB brand and hurt its brand equity as well as the rights of its sponsors.”

In response, Sun Pictures, the producers of Jailer have assured the Delhi High Court bench that all the necessary changes will be made by digitally altering the visuals. The necessary alterations will be reflected in the theatrical print starting from September 1, Sun Pictures added. Sun Pictures, which is a division of Sun TV Network, also clarified that the said modifications will be made before Jailer is released on TV or any OTT platform. 

Jailer crosses Rs 600 crore mark in 18 days

Meanwhile, Jailer is continuing its successful run at the box office. On Sunday, the film became the 2nd fastest Tamil film to reach the Rs 600 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Jailer, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, was released on August 10.
