Game of Thrones will return for its eighth and final season in April 2019, the show's official Twitter handle has announced in a post.
The announcement contains a teaser video which has scenes from past seasons, and makes it abundantly clear that all of the aspects of the show that have made it such a hit -- the battles, betrayals, risks, fights, sacrifices, and deaths -- have been #ForTheThrone.
There is also a series of graphics that have been put out to reflect the #ForTheThrone, all of which may be found below:
The gap between seasons 7 and 8, incidentally the two shortest seasons with 7 and 6 episodes respectively, is the longest in the series thus far, with all previous seasons releasing with a gap of a year. Filming for the grand climax of the TV adaptation of George R R Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' ended a couple of months ago, with the show's remaining stars generally taking to social media to issue nostalgia-filled goodbyes.
