A flurry of ‘squinting’ fans have taken over social media, thanking Melisandre for lighting up Game of Thrones’ episode 3 from Season 8 as the cinematography literally turned too ‘dark’ for them to see.

While it is expected that the plot is known to be too dark, shocking/pleasing its viewers with the way they have killed off its characters — from the chilling “Red Wedding” episode to the green wildfire that eliminated most of the cast, which then led to the epic way Tommen Baratheon essentially said, “I’m over this,” and took a dive from a high window, killing himself.

But this time, it’s the other kind of ‘darkness’ that is not pleasing the followers. While Melisandre did come to the rescue with firing up the Dothraki swords and later the trench, Daenerys also did her bit with the dragon fire, before they were caught in ice-storm. But well, it was not enough!

As expected, netizens had a field day making the best memes on the matter. Here’s a look at some:

Author Roxane Gay was not pleased with impressive stats of the episode, as she tweeted 'lighting provided by one slender candle'.

While another user tweeted saying, 'Me trying to see if someone I should care about has died or is hurt in the battle, with all this darkness.'

And Melisandre has been forgiven for her deeds, for this reason -

The highly anticipated episode 3 of Season 8 aired on Sunday and saw the ‘Battle of Winterfell’- shot over 55 days with 750 people, directed by Miguel Sapochnik.
