Ekta Kapoor stormed the small screen with what is probably a series of one of the most loved shows on Indian television. Her daily soaps like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi...', 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' and ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay' changed the face of television content back in the day.
‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay', a heart-touching story, struck a special chord with the audience and the lead characters, Prerna and Anurag, continue to be fondly remembered by fans even today. Finding the right actors to fill in Shweta Tiwari and Cezzane Khan’s shoes was certainly not an easy task for Ekta and the producer recently opened up about how she found the original Prerna and Anurag. Actors Shweta Tiwari and Cezzane Khan went on to become household names and ruled the hearts of millions with their impeccable performances. As fate would have it, the duo, despite their irrevocable love for each other went their separate ways.
The love showered on the show and the protagonists were so overwhelming that Ekta was compelled to bring them back to prime time television after almost two decades. While Erica Fernandes will be seen as Prerna, Parth Samthaan will portray the role of Anurag which was initially played by Cezzane Khan. Opening up about how she cast the original lead pair of the show, Ekta said, “Shweta ko to maine Doordarshan ke ek chhote se clip mein dekha tha where she was not even the lead (I first saw Shweta in a small clip on Doordarshan). I told my production people that ye jo Doordarshan ke show mein peeche khadi hai usse bulao casting ke liye (I asked my production team to call the actress who is standing in the background). And Cezzane was already doing a show for us on Doordarshan.”
Earlier, Ekta Kapoor had revealed how she cast Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan in the revamped version of the show. The producer had said that she wanted to cast Erica ever since she saw her in a promo of ‘Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi’ while Parth’s expressive eyes were what bagged him the role.
In addition to this, the antagonist Komolika played by Urvashi Dholakia was one of the most iconic negative characters to have appeared on the small screen. The audience loved to hate the actress' portrayal of Komolika in Ekta Kapoor's 'Kasauti Zindagii Kay' which ran for nearly 9 years in the early 2000s. The role will now be portrayed by Hina Khan in the second edition of the show. Ekta recently gave fans a sneak peek of what the new Komolika’s look would be like. ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ will premiere on September 25.
