The Witcher: All you need to know about the Netflix original series

The Netflix original, The Witcher is releasing soon. Read some interesting facts about the original story and the adaptation into the Netflix series.

Netflix is coming out with its new series, The Witcher on December 20, 2019. The eight-episode series is a fictional fantasy drama. The original story is adapted from the book by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski which goes by the same name. He wrote the first-ever short story from the book in the mid-1980s. The term The Witcher became popular post its inception into video games in the 90s.

Cast and crew

The lead role of Geralt of Rivia is played by Henry Cavill of Man of Steel fame. He will essay the character who is a monster hunter and develops supernatural powers in the process. The story, which originates from Poland, will be created by Lauren Schmidt. The female lead character Ciri will be essayed by Freya Allan. Other actors who are a part of the series are Joey Batey, Tom Canton, Anya Chalotra, and more. Andrzej Sapkowski, the writer himself is a part of the series as a creative consultant.

The Storyline

Geralt of Rivia is struggling to identify himself as a human or a monster. In the process of defending the former from the later, he himself becomes mistakenly identified as a monster. He faces many humans who live the life of monsters but look like humans and he cannot harm them. Geralt of Rivia has to face many ironic situations then.

According to reports, the makers of The Witcher released the trailer of the show. The trailer shows a series of blood ridden scenes and Henry Cavill swinging his sword at many. There are glimpses of Ciri as well. The show also goes with the tagline, “The worst monsters are the ones we create.”
