Hiten Tejwani weighs in on TV vs film actors debate: Take away these tags...

Hiten Tejwani is gearing up for the release of his upcoming series Kaala. At the series' trailer launch event on Thursday (August 31), the actor opened up about his transition from television to OTT platforms. He said that he wants to shed his "good-looking, positive boy" image. He also weighed in on the TV v/s film actors debate.

'Actors have a broad range'

While speaking to the media at Kaala's trailer launch, Hiten Tejwani said that he constantly seeks out compelling roles, irrespective of the medium. The actor spoke about the need to dismantle the categorisations of TV actors and film actors, stating that an actor's versatility transcends platforms. 

"I think it is high time that we take away these tags that he is a TV actor or a film actor, as an actor is an actor on all platforms. They have a broad range, they do movies, theatre, films… everything," the actor added. 

Hiten Tejwani heaps praise at Bejoy Nambiar

Hiten Tejwani said that he wishes to take on roles that challenge and redefine his established image. He added that his collaboration with Bejoy Nambiar gave him such an opportunity.

He recalled how he was drawn to the chance of working with the director Bejoy Nambiar and the prospect of breaking his existing mould. The actor praised Nambiar's vision and the transformative quality he brings to projects. He stated, "Everybody wants to work with Bejoy Nambiar, and being able to finally work with him was like ticking off a wish from my wishlist."

Hiten Tejwani on his role in Kaala

Reflecting on his role in Kaala, Hiten said that he will play the role of Bismill. "My character is Bismill and he has a great arc, he has a humane side. Of course the show is about reverse hawala but how it happens is what you’ll see in the show,” he said. 

Meanwhile, the series, starring Hiten Tejwani, Avinash Tiwari and Rohan Mehra among others is set to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 15.
