Alia Bhatt falls victim to deepfake menace after Rashmika Mandanna & Katraina Kaif, video goes viral

Alia Bhatt is the latest victim in the currently raging series of deepfake videos. This comes after the Rashmika Mandanna case, which garnered much publicity post the actress speaking out on the issue. Besides Alia, actresses Katrina Kaif and Kajol have also fallen prey to the unethical practice in the past.

Alia Bhatt becomes next deepfake victim

A leud clip featuring an unnamed woman has become the basis for a controversy Alia Bhatt finds herself in. The actress' face has been morphed onto the face of the same woman who can be found making certain gestures in the video. Alia Bhatt has yet to address or comment on the issue.

For the unversed, the Cambridge dictionary defines deepfake as 'a video or sound recording that replaces someone's face or voice with that of someone else, in a way that appears real: Deepfakes were born when someone posted videos that swapped the faces of celebrities onto porn performers.'

Rashmika Mandanna has addressed her ordeal in the past

Though Alia Bhatt is yet to address the issue, Rashmika Mandanna had tackled the situation head on with an elaborate post drawing attention to the same. With Mandanna's video being widely circulated, the actress who will next be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, took to her X handle to share how mortifying the whole ordeal has been for her. 

Excerpts from her post read, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused...if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this..." Mandanna's post attracted insutry-wide support with many eminent stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Naga Chaitanya voicing their support for the actress.
