2018 director campaigns for the film in Hollywood

2018 director Jude Anthany Joseph recently wrapped up his Oscars campaign in the US. He attended several screenings in the country and interacted with the media. Upon completion of his tour in the US, the director shared that he "will not disappoint my friends and relatives for the immense support they have given."

"I thank my producer Venu Kunnappilly for making this journey possible, without his passion towards cinema and generous mind I wouldn’t have made this. He is the first Malayalam film producer who has come this far for the Oscars. I hope I will not disappoint him. I thank my publicist here in LA for all the screenings and advice, I thank the media and all the people who came for the screenings," he wrote in the emotional post.

What are the chances of 12th Fail making the cut for Oscars 2024?

This year's sleeper hit at the box office, Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed movie 12th Fail has been submitted for Oscars as an independent nomination. It is based on the 2019 eponymous non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak about the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. The movie released to theatres on 27 October.

It remains to be seen whether 12th Fail or 2018 make India proud at the Oscars or not.
