Bhola Shankar Box Office Collection Day 2: Chiranjeevi film witnesses massive drop

Telugu film Bhola Shankar, which stars Chiranjeevi in the lead role, has turned out to be an underperformer at the global box office with a dismal collection.

Chiranjeevi has already delivered a hit this year, which is Waltair Veerayya, his collaboration with Ravi Teja. Waltair Veerayya, which finished 200 days since its release earlier this month, made upwards of Rs 200 crore and emerged as a blockbuster. The same cannot be said about Chiranjeevi's Bhola Shankar though, which has seen a massive drop on Saturday.

3 things you need to know:

  • Bhola Shankar is Chiranjeevi’s 155th film.
  • It’s a remake of the 2015 Tamil film Vedalam.
  • It is directed by Meher Ramesh.

Bhola Shankar’s future is uncertain

Bhola Shankar opened with an average collection of Rs 16.25, as per Sacnilk. While this was a concerning figure, the sirens hadn’t rung because of the triple competition from Rajinikanth’s Jailer, Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. On its second day, however, Bhola Shankar’s collections were dismal.

As per trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, Bhola Shankar managed to gross only Rs 6.03 crore at the box office. It pales in comparison to Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which has made more than 11 times Bhola Shankar’s collection with Rs 68.51 crore. Its collection now totals Rs 22.28 crore at the box office.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer overtakes Bhola Shankar

Manobala revealed in a separate tweet that Jailer has made more money in the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, India and even the worldwide box office on its third day than Chiranjeevi's film on its second day. Ticket sales for Bhola Shankar are looking slim as well, as it has only managed to record 245.93k bookings in its first two days on BookMyShow. If Bhola Shankar continues on this trajectory, it is likely to emerge as a box-office disappointment. It remains to be seen how the film will fare in its next few days.
