Vikrant Massey is currently riding high on the success of his recently released film 12th Fail. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film released alongside Kangana Ranaut starrer Tejas and continued to dominate the box office. Days after the film’s release, the actor has reacted to the film’s success, expressing gratitude to the audience.

Vikrant Massey attributes film’s success to stellar star cast

Despite headlining the film, Vikrant Massey believes that the film’s success is a group effort and it is not just his victory. As the most popular name in this film, there was a lot of pressure on Massey for the film's performance. However, the 36-year-old didn't buckle under it and clarified. He said, "My heart is full. I couldn't have asked for anything better. When people walked out (of the theatre), they thanked us for making the film and that's what matters most." He further continues, "I don't think the film only did well because of me, the cast was equally responsible. It would be stupid of me to say, I am the only sellable face in the film. The film's story was bigger than anyone.”

The actor said he is grateful that people are taking a chance on him. He says, "I have done around 25 films in 10 years. Bollywood is one of the most democratic, robust and progressive communities, but I won't call it a family. People have given me a lot of support. If they didn't recognise my talent, I wouldn't be here. I prioritised consistency (in my career). The idea was to win people's trust and not just get attention.”

12th Fail roars at box office

12th Fail hit the big screens across the country on October 27 alongside Kangana Ranaut starrer Tejas. Even a month after its theatrical run, and despite facing competition from films like Tiger 3, 12th Fail continues to draw audiences to theatres. The movie opened to a decent ₹1.1 crore but quickly picked pace owing to positive word of mouth. The Vikrant Massey starrer has raked in a total of ₹39.10 crores at the domestic box office as per Sacnilk. The film has been declared a sleeper hit by trade analysts and industry experts.
