On Friday, actor Aamir Khan was present at the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi for the screening of Laapataa Ladies. Before the screening, the Bollywood star joined the top court when a three-judge bench, headed by CJI DY Chandrachud and comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra was hearing a matter pertaining to promotion of women in armed forces.
DY Chandrachud welcomed Aamir and said, "I don't want a stampede in the court, but we welcome Mr Aamir Khan who is here for the screening of the film." Produced under his banner Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies will be screened here as part of a gender sensitisation programme.

CJI Chandrachud welcomed the veteran actor, who was seen sitting in a special visitor gallery in courtroom 1 of the apex court. Echoing similar sentiments, Attorney General R Venkataramani, the highest law officer of the Centre, appearing virtually, in a lighter vein, submitted that it was a "star-studded court today". Kiran Rao, the director of Laapataa Ladies, said, “I am deeply honoured. It's a privilege to show our film to the Supreme Court judges, their families and the staff, especially on the 75th year of the establishment of this esteemed institute. I am very honoured and grateful.”
