Abhishek-Aishwarya Divorce: The celebrity couple, who got married in 2007, has been in the news of late for rumours surrounding their split. While Abhishek recently shut down all hearsay regarding trouble in their paradise, saying, "We're still married," there is a lot of speculation around what the truth really is. Here's a look at what transpired in the public domain between the couple that led to their divorce rumours swirling in entertainment circles and gossip columns.

When Bachchan family members seemingly snubbed Aishwarya

In October last year, Navya Nanda made her debut at the Paris Fashion Week. Aishwarya Rai also graced the event, and so did Shweta Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. However, when Navya posted pictures online, she made no mention of her aunt and just posted a picture with her mom Shweta and grandmom Jaya.

Following this, when Aishwarya posted a birthday wish for Amitabh Bachchan, she cropped a picture to exclude Bachchan family members - Jaya, Agastya and Navya.

When Abhishek stopped wearing his wedding ring

Since late last year, the Ludo actor was spotted on various occasions without his wedding ring, which first sparked rumours of a split between him and Aishwarya. Later, on November 1, when the PS 2 actress turned 50, Abhishek posted a dry wish for her on the occasion on social media. In fact, at an event where Aishwarya cut her birthday cake, she came along with her mom Brindya Rai and her daughter Aaradhya. None from the Bachchan family was present with her at the event.

Later, in the same month, When Agastya Nanda's The Archies premiered, the family showed up in full strength, but netizens pointed out that Aishwarya was a little uncomfortable posing with the family members. The Taal actress did not wear her wedding ring to the premiere, raising further curiosity. In December, news surfaced that Aishwarya has moved out of the Bachchan family residence with Aaradhya.

Aish tries to dispel rumours

In February 2024, Aishwarya posted a sweet birthday wish for Abhishek Bachchan. She took to Instagram and shared a couple of photos with her husband and also penned a sweet note for him. In March, the couple celebrated Holi together and both actors were seen with colours smeared on their faces in a candid snap. It was also the time when Aishwarya was snapped with her sister-in-law Shweta after months as they arrived in Mumbai from Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding bash in Jamnagar.

In April, Aishwarya also posted an anniversary wish for her husband, as they marked 17 years of togetherness.

Divorce rumours resurface again

After a series of public acknowledgments, Aish and Abhishek's divorce rumours seemingly died down, only to  resurface strongly. In July, at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding, Aishwarya arrived separately from the Bachchan family, which otherwise showed up in full strength. However, inside pictures from the bash showed the couple seated with their daughter. With reignited rumours it was evident that all was not well in their relationship.

Abhishek also liked a post about rising "grey divorces" worldwide, which added to the chatter. In August, a deepfake video surfaced in which Abhishek confirmed his divorce.

Still married, sorry  

This was followed by a clarification on the Dasvi actor's behalf, as he said addressing separation rumours, "I don’t have to say anything to you all about that.” He also showed his wedding ring to the media person interviewing him and confirmed that he was “still married” to Aishwarya. “I think you all have blown the entire thing out of proportion, sadly. But I understand why you do it. You all have to file some stories. It’s okay, we’re celebrities, we have to take it. Still married, sorry,” Abhishek added.
