Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his film Sarfira. A remake of the Tamil film starring Suriya, the drama film will hit the big screens on July 12. Ahead of the release, the lead actor spoke about how he deals with failure and the underwhelming response of his movies at the box office. For the uninitiated, the last two movies of the actor - Mission Raniganj and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan failed to perform well at the box office.
In a recent interview, Akshay Kumar opened up about dealing with failure. The actor is no stranger to box office flops and has seen a time when 16 of his consecutive films tanked. In the interview, he spoke about how he keeps on delivering his best at work no matter what the results are.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Akshay Kumar shared, “Don’t let anything enter my head. I have seen a lot of people fall down, and I have heard many stories. My father-in-law has taught me so much because he had seen the biggest success in life and then saw a complete drop. I have heard stories. What I do is, I take knowledge from other people, and I realise that these things are just to be kept at a one-hand distance. My job is to just keep working.” He added that success is a fleeting feeling and does not stay with one person for too long. He continued, “In my career, I have given 16-18 hits continuously, then continuously I’ve given 10-12 flops. I don’t take it seriously. I’ve known this since the beginning of my career. It is not yours. It is a crown that will be passed on to others. Today, it’s with you, next Friday it’ll be with somebody else. Success is an amazing thing, but don’t take it seriously; it’ll run.”
Speaking at the trailer launch of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in March this year, Akshay Kumar addressed a series of flop movies he has been going through. The actor’s last movies Mission Raniganj, OMG 2, and Selfiee underperformed at the box office.
Addressing the string of flops, the actor said, “I don't stick to one kind of genre. I keep on jumping from one genre to another, whether it's success or not success.” He further revealed that he himself gets bored of starring in movies from one genre. He added, “So sometimes success is there, sometimes it's not there. It's not that I haven't seen, I've seen continuous 16 flops in one go in my career and I still stood there and I kept on working hard and I'll still keep on doing that.”
