Akshay Kumar Pokes Fun At Jaani Dushman, Co-Star Sonu Nigam Reacts | Republic Plenary Summit 2025

Akshay Kumar spoke at length about youth taking care of their health and how that will make India "limitless" at the Republic Plenary Summit at Bharat Mandapam. Present at the summit was also Sonu Nigam, Akshay's co-star in the 2002 film Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani. The session was hosted by Republic Media Network's Editor-In-Cheif Arnab Goswami who asked him about his journey in the film industry which started from "zero". Akshay, in response, spoke about how every big artist has a starting phase and it is important to cherish one's journey.

"If you want to be something in life, don't expect to have anything in the start. Start from zero," Akshay said. When Arnab said, "You started from zero and you are here now. Your life and world have not changed," the Bollywood star added, “Zero was discovered by an Indian. Har aadmi ko zero see shuru karna hota hai tab aage ke number ki value pata chalti hai.”

"I have heard people saying glass is half full or half empty. There is a third way of looking at things. Let's fill the half glass and make it full. Stop thinking someone will help you. Only you and your destiny, god and the blessings of your parents... these are the only things that will take you places. Don't leave your home without taking the blessings of your parents," Akshay said.

The actor also addressed Sonu Nigam in the audience and praised his journey in the music industry. He also took a jibe at their movie Jaani Dushman, saying, "Jaani Dushman hum dono ne nahi dekhi thi. He started with zero. Now he is a top singer. I envy him. To work patiently is what I have learned from him." Sonu, who was in the crowd, reacted to this with a smile.
