Alia Bhatt reveals why she never watched her parents' films while growing up

Alia Bhatt, who is the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan, recently revealed that she didn't watch their films while growing up. Instead, she was drawn to the films of her half-sister Pooja Bhatt. In a recent interview, she opened up on why she chose Pooja's romantic films over her father's blockbuster directorial.

Why did Alia Bhatt watch Pooja Bhatt's romantic films over her parents' intense films?

Speaking to Elle US Magazine, the actress revealed that during childhood, she found herself drawn to her sister Pooja's films as she didn't want to see her mother being pushed out of a window. “Honestly, I was very sensitive as a child and I took the films too seriously. I didn’t want to see my mother being pushed out of a window or see her suffering. That wasn’t something I wanted to engage with,” Alia explained.

Opening up about why she didn't watch Mahesh Bhatt's films, to this, she added that they were too intense for her age at the time. And she used to repeatedly watch the "charming and romantic" films of her sister Pooja.  “The cutesy romantic stuff I could handle," she added.

Alia Bhatt on her childhood aspirations to become an actor

In the same interview, the Raazi actress recalled what inspired her to become an actor. She said, "I liked what I saw coming from the television box—the people dancing around and making faces at each other. I thought it might be nice to be inside that box one day.”

Alia Bhatt made her debut in 2012 with Student of the Year, and since then, she has proved her mettle in the acting business in many films such as Gully Boy, Darlings and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, among others.
