Ananya Panday scores 1st Rs 100 crore grosser with Dream Girl 2, pens note of gratitude

Dream Girl 2 released on August 25 and turned out to be a hit at the box office. Coming out four years after the initial film, the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer comedy has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India. The film's lead actress shared a heartwarming note, celebrating its commercial success.

Ananya Panday celebrates Dream Girl 2 success

Calling it her "first century", Ananya Panday wrote on Instagram, “My first century!! It’s not just about the number (which I do admit feels great) but it’s also proof of the love Dream Girl 2 has gotten from the audiences, which I’m forever grateful for.” She added, “Thank you to everyone who made it possible.” She shared a video, where she could be seen performing to one of the film’s songs. Moreover, she shared a poster for Dream Girl 2 celebrating the film touching the Rs 100 crore mark in India.

Here's how Ananya Panday's films have fared at the box office

Ananya Panday made her Bollywood debut with the 2019 release Student of the Year 2. As per Box Office India, the film made Rs 65 crore in India (nett), with a worldwide gross of Rs 93 crore. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 65 crore. Her 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh was a hit, minting Rs 86.89 crore as per Bollywood Hungama against a budget of Rs 45 crore. 

However, her first pan-India film with Vijay Deverakonda, Liger, was a big flop. Made on a budget of Rs 101 crore, as per Box Office India, Liger minted a little over Rs 40 crore worldwide. Dream Girl 2 is now Ananya's career-best hit.
