On August 26, Babil shared a series of childhood photos on Instagram. The post featured candid and heartwarming moments with his father, beginning with a picture of the late actor lovingly wrapping his arm around a young Babil, followed by several joyful snapshots. He captioned the pictures and wrote, “grief”.

As soon as he shared the post, fans started sharing their love in remembrance of Irrfan. One user commented, “He was the best actor of all time.” "Irrfan Khan sir is being missed by everyone a lot," another user wrote.

Irrfan Khan passed away from cancer on April 29, 2020, at the age of 53. He had been battling a neuroendocrine tumour. The legendary Indian actor made his debut in the Oscar-nominated Hindi film Salaam Bombay in 1988, and later starred in blockbuster films such as Life in a... Metro, The Lunchbox, and Hindi Medium.
